Every now and again, the driving habits of others absolutely drives me nuts!  I’m not a road rager, and I can count on my hand how often I’ve flipped the bird at another driver, in my entire life.  That said some drivers are so completely clueless that I just want to get out of my car, tap their window and teach them the right way to do things.  More often than not, drivers pull moronic moves in the parking lot.So, I want to teach all you moronic drivers how to properly pull out of a parking stall.  Those intelligent drivers among my readers, please disregard this post, and I thank you for your exceptional driving abilities.  So, Mr. Moron.  First let me set a few reminders.  1. In Canada, we drive on the right side of the road.  This holds true in a parking lot as well.  2.  If you can’t park it in the spot to begin with, you should sell it, and buy something you can park, or take the bus.

This exact scenario happens to me regularly.  Moron is getting into their car to leave the parking spot, so I engage my turn signal to show that I want to park in that spot.  I’ve given enough room for moron to pull out.

So, what does Moron do?  Well Moron backs out of the spot, wanting to pass by me, but clearly didn’t pull out enough to clear my car.  Now I have to drive left past Moron, so they can leave driving over where I was stopped, waiting to park.

Aside from being inconsiderate, it’s incorrect, and potentially dangerous.  Therefore this is a classic Bonehead move.  This person most likely backs out of driveways on a busy street across a lane of traffic also.  Dumbass.

Now that I’ve shown the WRONG way to do this, let’s look at the right way….and you have more than one option.

Option 1 (skill level: Beginner)

Pull out of your stall and wait until your car is partially out of the stall before you crank your steering wheel.  Once you back out, Continue until your car is pointing the direction you want to go, or the close enough that you can correct this by turning as you move forward.

Option 2 (Skill Level: Medium)

Back out of the spot, so that your car is in front of mine. Don’t worry I will have left you enough room.  Then forward straight and you’re on your way.

Option 3 (skill Level: Advanced)

Only try this if you’re a moron with skill.  (Ha!)  No picture required.  Back INTO the parking stall and just drive out.
